Baltimore, MD: Rocio Film Screening + Filmmaker Q&A

Join us for a screening of Rocio, a riveting documentary about the story of a mother's love and the American Dream. The event will include a Q&A led by Dr. Jonathan Plucker with filmmaker Dario Guerrero (CAR '07-'08, LAN '09), an alumnus of the CTY Scholars Program.

Synopsis: When Rocio, a doting mother of three, is suddenly diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer, her son Dario takes a leave of absence from Harvard College to return home to care for her. Their battle against the disease leads them into the world of alternative medicine, where they find hope shimmering at a clinic across the border. The catch: Pursuing this last chance at survival might mean giving up everything they've ever worked for.

The screening is part of the JHU Forums on Race in America series and is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
